knuck tats saying POST, and on the other hand, having transcended the limitations of the form, STRUCTURALIST
Interestingly, brass knuckles were originally invented to facilitate spelling out words that were either longer than biological knuckles permitted or for infomorphs wishing to “reglove” in different knuckle-words between one and another occasion. It wasn’t until the early 1900s that a sharp cultural turn away from this kind of thinking ensured that a person was “meant” to stick to whatever four letters were tattooed on their knuckles in their early childhood and brass knuckles became the illegal tool of vagabonds, ne’er-do-wells, countercultural boxers, and post-structuralists—-as well as the mysterious “thousand-knuckle god” whom immigrants spoke of as roaming the dark side of the city punishing those who abused their wealth and power too far.
white people can walk around with assault rifles in a fucking public store but the moment they see a poc’s skin they clutch their purses or lock their car doors
Because people head off to Target with AK47s around their necks right? Lol. This site never fails to amaze me.
These are not staged. These are real instances of arms rights “advocates”, predominantly in Open Carry Groups, protesting gun regulation laws and asserting their right to bear arms by carrying assault rifles in public places. It’s been all over the news. There are Daily Show segments about it. They held Open Carry “protests” in my city in public malls and restaurants filled with families with small children or just people who did not want to walk into a place to eat or shop and see a bunch of huge guns.

What really burns me up about this issue is that, as the OP says, these same types of people will follow an unarmed, unassuming black person around in a store because they’re afraid of stealing, get nervous and tense up if they see a group of browned skinned young men hanging around a block, or snarl about immigrants coming into a country that was established by and built on the backs of immigrants. And I guaran-damn-tee you if a group of African American men walked into a Jack in the Box with assault guns, white people would flip shit.
